CAPSULE FOR COLD AUTUMN AND WINTER

With the onset of the new season, some of us tend to replace many items in our wardrobe. Today, I suggest we talk about a timeless capsule for the cool season, which will not require annual updates and will become the foundation of your wardrobe.

The capsule contains a general outline of items that would cover most wardrobe issues. Depending on your lifestyle and appearance, specific items may vary: colors, styles, and silhouettes cannot be universal for everyone. However, the items listed below will definitely create a foundation that can be easily adapted to your unique style and vision.

А сoat

An indispensable item for the cold season: for the office, a date, or a walk. For versatile combinations, I recommend choosing graphite, blue, gray, chocolate, and black solid colors. If there is a dress code, take a look at structured coats, as they are best suited for formal business and smart casual wardrobes.

A warm jacket

A staple item in our wardrobes, as it is highly versatile. It looks great with palazzo pants or denim, as well as midi skirts. I recommend choosing a slightly loose fit so that you can always wear it over a sweater or jacket.

А blazer A favorite multi-season item! An extra layer that adds structure, warmth, and sometimes a play on styles. You can confidently wear it with both obvious smart-casual outfits and more unexpected ones (sports or wool joggers, leggings, and Bermuda shorts). If you choose a more textured jacket, you will have an additional outer garment for the transitional season!

Pants

Something I can't imagine the cool season without: thick and well-fitting. They can be paired with a knitted shoulder garment or added to sweatshirts for a more interesting look. For your first versatile pair, I would recommend looking at muted shades so that you have plenty of options for styling.

Jeans

Another off-season item in our wardrobes. A nice color, seams that match the fabric (preferably), and the right silhouette—all of this literally guarantees the “success” of this item in your wardrobe.

A skirt

A waist-length garment that, in most cases, significantly changes the mood of an outfit, adding femininity and character. For the cooler season, I recommend paying attention to thick textures and materials that will hold their shape. Wear them again for contrast: with cardigans and shirts, as well as with sweatshirts and hoodies.

A sweater

The basis of the season is a warm sweater made of natural materials with a semi-loose silhouette. In addition to the usual wearing as an independent element of the set, you can tie the sweater at the waist or tie it instead of a scarf. Such layering will not only increase the degree of style, but also really play a practical role in the cool season.

A cardigan

Another knitwear item that I recommend adding to your wardrobe because of its functionality. It can be worn as a first layer or an intermediate layer (over a top and under a jacket). But that's not all the cardigan has to offer, as it goes well with any waist-length garment: classic trousers, midi skirts, joggers, or jeans.

A sweatshirt

We would also like to add a touch of sportiness here, as these items can relax even the most structured coats and suits. They will complement all formal business attire and enhance the casual look of any jeans and sneakers.

A shirt

A wardrobe staple that will meet a variety of needs: the only distinctive element of an outfit that creates a sense of cohesion, or an intermediate layer between a top and outerwear that properly relaxes the outfit. And in general, it's hard to say what a shirt won't go with!

A bag for every day

A bag that can hold all your important everyday items, a bottle of water, a notebook, etc., is truly a treasure. I recommend looking for structured bags with matte leather and minimalist designs. This type of bag is best suited for everyday use and will be as comfortable as possible.

A small bag

The complete opposite of the previous point: smaller in size, bright in color or texture (or all of the above). One that complements a special outfit for the theater, a date, or another important event, in other words, “for going out.” I recommend looking for unique shapes that are different from your “everyday” bag.

Heeled shoes

For some, this pair may be an everyday item, for others, the finishing touch to a special outfit. But neither of these cases calls into question the fact that heeled shoes for the cooler months always change the mood of an outfit: they elongate the silhouette and, again, add a touch of femininity. When choosing your first pair for your capsule wardrobe, I recommend looking for heels no higher than 7 cm.

Flat-soled shoes

A must-have item in your wardrobe, which is determined depending on your lifestyle: - if you want more comfortable shoes for everyday wear, then choose anatomically shaped boots; - if you want to stick to a smart-casual style in your wardrobe, then choose derbies or lace-up shoes; - if you have a more active lifestyle, then sneakers.

Jewelry

For the cool season, I consider minimalist yet eye-catching long necklaces to be the most versatile accessory. This accessory completes most outfits for the cool season for any occasion.

This article is intended not only to help and point out the things you need to create your own wardrobe. Mood, aesthetics, life circumstances, and context vary greatly for each woman, so there is no one-size-fits-all capsule wardrobe. In this article, we wanted to show the most functional variety so that you can choose the pieces that are right for you.
